“Asylum Sinister!”

A man in an asylum jumpsuit — cowl on but clearly at the mercy of a mob of sickly, green-tinted figures closing in from all sides — makes for one of the more unsettling Batman covers of 1980. Joe Kubert's pencils and inks sell the desperation perfectly, with the taunting caption "You're not the Batman… you're just one of US!" raising the stakes before you've even opened the book. Inside, Len Wein scripts "Asylum Sinister!" with art by Irv Novick and inks by Frank McLaughlin — plus a bonus Batman and Robin story for eight extra pages of all-new action.
