Snow falls on a tense winter night as Batgirl crouches in the foreground, poised and alert, while a looming red-tinted figure and a cloaked woman lurk ominously on the other side of a tree — the subtitle "Night of the Hunters" making the threat unmistakably clear. Tim Sale's cover work gives the scene a moody, atmospheric quality, balancing Batgirl's coiled readiness against the shadowy menace closing in around her. With Andersen Gabrych scripting and Pop Mhan on interior art, this February 2006 issue kicks off "Blood Matters" with a cold, foreboding first chapter.
