Batgirl #5 (August 2000) sets a striking tone with its cover by Damion Scott and Robert Campanella — two enormous silhouetted profiles, one cast in cold blue and one in deep red, frame Batgirl as she strides forward through a darkened industrial setting, a blinding light at her chest and a mysterious figure lurking in the shadows behind her. It's a beautifully composed image that captures Batgirl caught between two opposing forces, and it makes turning the page feel genuinely urgent.
