Batgirl #3
Batgirl #3 (June 2000) throws the new Dark Knight of Gotham straight into the deep end, as the cover's tagline makes clear — "Until now, she didn't know what trouble WAS!" The cover by Damion Scott and Robert Campanella says it all: Batgirl clings to the back of a massive, snarling metahuman adversary, her cape billowing as she grapples for control against someone who dwarfs her in sheer size and raw power. Writers Scott Peterson and Kelley Puckett, with Scott and Campanella handling the interior art, were clearly building a series willing to test its hero against threats that go well beyond street-level crime.
