The six-issue 'Redemption Road' miniseries, of which this is the second chapter, was commissioned by DC after the company found itself without a female-led Bat-title following the 2006 cancellation of Cassandra's ongoing and the collapse of a planned Batwoman solo book. Writer Adam Beechen, who had previously drawn controversy for a Robin storyline that depicted Cassandra as a villain under Deathstroke's influence, was brought back specifically to script her rehabilitation — a creatively charged editorial decision that generated debate among readers before the series even reached stands. The creative team also comprised penciler Jim Calafiore, inker Jack Purcell, colorist Nathan Eyring, and letterer Sal Cipriano, with Mike Marts editing under executive editor Dan DiDio.
