About this Issue

Barbarella Vol. 3 #2 (November 2024) is the second chapter of Dynamite's third distinct ongoing volume of the character — a French sci-fi heroine who debuted in V Magazine in 1962 and became one of the founding texts of the adult comic-book form. This Northcott/Morozova run was explicitly designed to circle back more closely to Jean-Claude Forest's original freewheeling, planet-hopping spirit than its Dynamite predecessors had managed, making issue #2 a meaningful test of whether that creative mandate could hold across a full arc. The issue deepens the dual-narrative structure established in #1 — Barbarella trapped as an unwitting intergalactic reality-TV star while new series regular Jury Quire pursues a parallel espionage thread — demonstrating the team's intent to build a proper ensemble around the title character rather than keep her as a lone adventurer. History

Announced in July 2024 and solicited as part of Dynamite's busy October 2024 launch slate alongside a new Terminator series, Barbarella Vol. 3 #1 hit shops on October 2, 2024, with #2 following on November 6–13, 2024. Writer Blake Northcott (previously credited on Vampirella, Catwoman, and Evanescence: Echoes From the Void) and artist Anna Morozova (known for 2000 AD and Judge Dredd) were positioned as an all-new creative team succeeding the Barbarella: The Center Cannot Hold miniseries written by Sarah Hoyt. Wikipedia's Barbarella entry notes that the Northcott/Morozova iteration was explicitly conceived to return more closely to Jean-Claude Forest's original concept, a directive that shaped the team's tonal and structural choices from the series' first pages. All covers across both issues were printed on cardstock, with Cover A duties handled by Joseph Michael Linsner, Cover B by Annie Wu, Cover C by Richard Pace, and a cosplay cover featuring Rachel Hollon.
