Back to Brooklyn #2
The second chapter of this five-issue Image series from 2008 carries the grim confidence of "Friday Night" right through to Mihailo Vukelic's cover, where a bloodstained man in a jacket stands cigarette in mouth, shotgun leveled, looming over a downed and bloodied figure in an industrial setting of hanging chains and steel drums. Vukelic's painted linework gives the scene a grounded, almost cinematic weight that suits the hard-edged sensibilities of writers Garth Ennis and Jimmy Palmiotti perfectly. If you're following this street-level crime series, issue #2 makes it abundantly clear that things are only getting rougher.
