Avengers: Solo #2

Part two of this five-issue Marvel limited series puts Hawkeye front and center — literally inverted, suspended upside-down and tangled in a web of crisscrossing lines while gripping his bow, his purple costume unmistakable against the pale, chaotic background. The disorienting composition by cover artist John Tyler Christopher gives the image a genuine sense of danger and momentum, hinting that Clint Barton's solo adventure in "Pathfinder" has him caught in a very tight spot. With Jen Van Meter writing and Roger Robinson on interior art, this 2012 series makes a compelling case that Hawkeye can carry a story entirely on his own terms.
