A German freighter with crippled engines is detected by an American naval force at 22 knots bearing 170 degrees and 14,000 yards away. Officers aboard debate whether the ship is authentic or German, noting it reported traveling 600 miles in 53 hours, and German forces plan to destroy it by allowing the enemy to approach. The American PT boat 1955 engages the vessel with torpedoes in shallow water, ultimately sinking the enemy ship in combat.
