Atom #5
In "Konserviert im Vakuum!", Ray Palmer and Jean take a vacation that takes a dangerous turn when criminals plot an assassination using a nuclear bomb. With Atom struggling to shrink properly—any small explosion now risking detonation—the fate of the mission rests on his ability to stay tiny and think fast. Written by Bob Rozakis and illustrated by Alex Saviuk, with inks by Vince Colletta and colors by Tom Ziuko, this 1983 issue features a cover by Gil Kane and Sid Greene.
In "Die spurlosen Kapriolen von Chronos!", the Atom faces off against the cunning Chronos, who has stolen his size-changing belt and is using it to impersonate him. When Chronos sets a trap involving a blender and pancake syrup, the hero must think fast to escape before his identity—and his powers—are lost for good.
In "Keinen Urlaub für Helden!", Ray Palmer and Jean take a well-earned break, but their vacation is interrupted when a bomb threat looms—just as Ray’s shrinking powers go haywire. With even small explosions risking detonation, the Atom must find a way to stop the attack without making things worse.
In "Katastrophenkarneval!", the Atom races against time to defuse a detonating atomic bomb—only to find himself cornered by the very criminals he’s stopped. When the bombers recognize Ray Palmer and use his identity to demand freedom, he tracks them down, uncovering unsettling secrets about their leader. But when the thugs die during the confrontation, the question lingers: did the Atom’s actions lead to their deaths, or is something far more sinister at play?
