Osamu Tezuka's pint-sized robot hero charges straight at the reader, fists raised and jet boots blazing, while an enormous mechanical titan looms overhead with gaping maw and outstretched arms — debris and scattered machinery swirling around them both in a dizzying burst of kinetic energy. The cover art, fully penciled and inked by Tezuka himself, captures exactly the kind of grand, imaginative scale that made this series a cornerstone of manga storytelling. Volume 23 of Dark Horse's 2002 English edition is a fine entry point into Tezuka's boundless sci-fi world.
