Astro Boy #13

Volume 23 of Osamu Tezuka's original Astro Boy series from Dark Horse delivers a cover that practically bursts off the page — the plucky robot boy rockets straight toward the viewer, fists raised and jet boots blazing, while an enormous, looming mechanical enemy fills the background with its massive arms and gaping maw, sending debris and smaller machines scattering in every direction. Tezuka's linework crackles with kinetic energy, the radiating speed lines drawing your eye from Astro's determined expression all the way out to the chaos surrounding him. It's a wonderfully dynamic snapshot of the sci-fi action and heart that have made this manga series such a pleasure to follow.
