Art Ops #12

Vertigo's Art Ops bows out its twelfth issue with a cover as vibrant and self-aware as the series itself, rendered by Michael Allred in a swirl of hot-pink spirals and gleefully flung paint. Three young figures — two women and a young man — are framed within an ornate gold picture frame, one of them holding a smaller image-within-an-image, while a dark, masked figure looms behind them and a bandaged hand clutches the frame's edge, dripping with streaks of neon color. "Popism, Part Four: Dadism" promises that Shaun Simon and Allred are still having tremendous fun playing art movements against spy-thriller energy right up to this final chapter.
