Arion, Lord of Atlantis #34

This August 1985 issue of Arion, Lord of Atlantis arrives with one of the series' most visually arresting covers, rendered by Jan Duursema: a massive, snarling armored figure looms over a red-haired woman in a blue cloak who cradles a fallen warrior, the tagline "Shadow Slayer!" blazing across the scene in bold red and white. The sheer scale of the threat bearing down on those two figures gives the composition an immediate, almost suffocating tension. With Paul Kupperberg writing and the story titled "Conclave," issue #34 looks to be a compelling chapter in Atlantis's ancient struggles.
