In "Le dernier centaure," Arak and Valda find themselves captured by Byzantine soldiers who suspect them of espionage. As fear grips the camp, a haunting pipe melody sends the guards fleeing—only to draw Valda into a trance-like dance with a satyr under the moonlight. Meanwhile, Arak is led by an unseen force to a mountain’s peak, where he confronts a towering statue carved in his own image, its presence both a mystery and a challenge.
