“Drum Roll”

The Star Drive-In is the setting for this charming 1983 entry in Archie's long-running humor series, as Dilton and his date sit attentively in their yellow car — genuinely there to watch the movie — while a nearby couple in a red hot rod are far more interested in each other, complete with floating hearts. The cover caption says it all: "Dilton and his girl are WEIRD... they actually come to the drive-in to watch the movie!" Above the main scene, the Riverdale gang cavorts in a lively banner strip, with Archie spinning a frisbee and friends striking playful poses. Cover art by Dan DeCarlo makes this a warm, witty snapshot of early-'80s teen comedy at its most endearing.
