Samm Schwartz delivers a perfectly timed gag on this 1964 cover, placing Jughead — crown and all — in a psychiatrist's chair across from a bespectacled doctor holding up Rorschach inkblot cards. Jughead's deadpan reply that the doctor "should switch to a ballpoint pen" says everything you need to know about Riverdale's most irreverent slacker. It's a charming snapshot of the humor that made this series a staple of early-'60s Archie comics.
