This April 1977 installment of Archie's Joke Book Magazine captures one of Archie's most relatable contradictions right on the cover: in the top panel he's cheerfully stretching in bed, exclaiming "Gosh! Mornings are SO wonderful!" — while the bottom panel reveals the real story, with a bleary-eyed Archie buried under his pillow grumbling "Why can't they come later on in the day?" Photos of Ronnie and Betty on his nightstand and a ticking alarm clock complete the gag perfectly. It's the kind of warm, instantly funny two-panel setup that made Archie's Joke Book a perennial favorite, and at 30 cents it packed plenty of Riverdale charm.
