Archie's Girls Betty and Veronica #247
In "Progress Report," Betty and Veronica turn the Lodges' bannister into a high-speed slide, much to the delight of their friends and the fury of Smithers, who retaliates by waxing the rail to an almost unbearable slipperiness. Written by Frank Doyle and brought to life with Dan DeCarlo’s signature style—penciled by DeCarlo and inked by Jim DeCarlo—this 1976 classic captures the timeless chaos of teenage mischief, with Barry Grossman’s colors and Bill Yoshida’s lettering adding to the playful energy. The cover by Dan DeCarlo perfectly captures the scene’s zany spirit.

The girls have the knob at the bottom of the Lodges' stairway removed, so that they can take turns sliding down the bannister. Furious at these kids for turning the house into "some sort of cheap carnival," Smithers waxes the bannister to make it extra-slippery.
