Archie (Jumbo Comics) Double Digest #218

Dan Parent's cover sets up one of Archie's most delightfully impossible fishing trips — there's our red-vested hero standing ankle-deep at the shoreline, rod in hand, declaring "I'm not throwing this one back!" as a very real, very amused mermaid who looks remarkably like Betty lounges in the surf at his feet. This 2011 double digest packs in plenty of reading, including a Little Archie and Friends story alongside "The Strong, Silent Type," written by George Gladir with art by Bob Bolling — a pairing that always delivers warm, witty Riverdale charm.
