There's something wonderfully relatable about this 1993 digest cover, penciled by Stan Goldberg and inked by Henry Scarpelli: Archie is perched atop his completely cluttered desk — buried under sports magazines, donut boxes, trading cards, and snack foods — chatting on the phone and clearly doing anything but studying. Meanwhile, two onlookers peer through the doorway, one insisting "Poor Archie! He's been at his desk studying ALL day!" The gap between their assumption and the chaotic reality in front of us is pure Riverdale comedy, and it sets a cheerful tone for the digest's packed lineup of stories inside.
