In need of a runner for the upcoming race, Coach Kleats sends scouts around Riverdale, one of whom finds Jughead running away from a baseball game where he broke a window. Once he discovers the reason for Jughead's speed, he places a receiver in Jughead's hat during the race and blackmails him into winning the race for Riverdale.
