The issue falls within the New Riverdale initiative, the line-wide relaunch Archie Comics announced in December 2014 and launched in July 2015 with writer Mark Waid and artist Fiona Staples. By issue #25, Audrey Mok — who had already demonstrated her feel for the Riverdale cast on the Josie and the Pussycats series — had taken over interior art duties starting with issue #23, with colorist Kelly Fitzpatrick and letterer Jack Morelli rounding out the creative team under editors Mike Pellerito, Vincent Lovallo, Stephen Oswald, and Jamie Lee Rotante, with Victor Gorelick serving as editor-in-chief.
