Aquaman #7
From the depths of the DC universe comes this February 1963 issue featuring Aquaman and Aqualad squaring off against a massive, spike-covered sea beast straight out of Atlantis — Nick Cardy's cover captures the King of the Seven Seas hurling a net at the snarling creature while his young ally shouts a warning from the churning waves below. Cardy's linework gives the enormous pink-headed monster a genuinely unsettling menace, all spines and snapping beak, dwarfing our heroes against the roiling surf. With the story title "The Sea Beasts from Atlantis" promising more creatures where that one came from, this is a thoroughly entertaining slice of early Silver Age undersea adventure.
