“Amnesty, Part 4: Strange Beasts”
About this Collection

This DVD collects the first season of the 2020 DC Universe animated series, following Arthur Curry as he navigates his dual heritage as the King of Atlantis and a surface-world hero. The season adapts key storylines from the Aquaman comics, including his conflict with his brother Orm and the threat of Black Manta.

In "Amnesty, Part 4: Strange Beasts," Aquaman confronts the shocking return of Tristram Maurer—believed dead for two centuries—on Amnesty Island, where a mysterious sea beast has left destruction in its wake. As Mera and her Atlantean forces close in, searching for the attacker of an ancient Atlantean site, the long-awaited reunion between Mera and Aquaman is cut short by a sudden, brutal assault from Black Manta. Written by Kelly Sue DeConnick and illustrated by Robson Rocha, Eduardo Pansica, and Daniel Henriques, with colors by Sunny Gho and letters by Clayton Cowles, this issue blends ancient secrets and underwater tension, all framed by a cover by Robson Rocha and Daniel Henriques.

On Amnesty Island, Aquaman is surprised to encounter Tristram Maurer, who was believed to have died two hundred years prior. Aquaman tries to determine what Maurer's connection is to the sea beast who attacked the island. Mera and her Atlantean forces arrive, searching for whomever attacked an Atlantean landmark. As Mera and Aquaman are about to meet for the first time since Arthur's "death", Black Manta strikes.
