Aquaman #28
The cover of Aquaman #28 (August 1966) delivers a striking scene: a massive dark creature looms over a wide-eyed Aquaman, driving a trident down toward him while, in the background, a sinister-looking figure and a small child — Aquababy himself — watch from the water's surface, the cover copy cheekily declaring the infant the "New King of Atlantis." Nick Cardy's artwork frames the Sea King in a rare moment of genuine peril, pinned beneath an enormous winged beast with colorful fish drifting indifferently past. It's a wonderfully offbeat mid-Silver Age premise that makes "Hail Aquababy, New King of Atlantis!" one of the more memorably playful entries in the series.
