Aquaman #25
In "Underworld," Aquaman #25 (2017) plunges into the fractured heart of Atlantis, where King Corum Rath rules with isolationist fervor and the Ninth Tride burns with unrest. As Rath's purge of non-Atlanteans escalates and crime gangs terrorize the underbelly of the city, a shadowy figure begins striking back—protecting the vulnerable in a world gone dark. With Vulko scheming in the shadows and Mera mourning Arthur’s presumed death, the tide of rebellion begins to stir beneath the waves. Written by Dan Abnett and illustrated in full by Stjepan Šejić, this issue’s haunting cover by Šejić captures the weight of a kingdom on the brink.

Weeks after Corum Rath became the new king of Atlantis, Arthur is believed dead, and Rath has cut-off Atlantis from contact with the surface world. Rath plans to use the magical weapons of the Silent School to protect Atlantis, and plans to eliminate all who are not true Atlanteans. In the Ninth Tride, Rath's home province, crime gangs terrorize innocent civilians as well as peaceful mutants who live there. But a mysterious protector emerges to fight the gangs. Vulko plots to over-throw Rath, while in Amnesty Bay, Tula comforts Mera, who is grieving over Arthur's death.
