Aquaman #21

This June 1965 DC gem features one of the most unsettling cover concepts of its era: a colossal, distorted Aquaman face looming over Atlantis, his enormous green-scaled hand visible at the lower right as tiny figures scramble in panic below. A red-haired figure and a dark-haired companion react in horror while the cover's dialogue makes the threat unmistakable — Aquaman has somehow transformed into a giant and is tearing his own kingdom apart. Nick Cardy's cover art sells the spectacle beautifully, balancing genuine dread with that irresistible Silver Age hook of "The Fearful Freak from Atlantis!
