The all-new monthly Aquaman series launches here in 1994 with Peter David, Martin Egeland, and Brad Vancata at the helm — and the cover sets a striking tone immediately. Egeland and Vancata depict a wild-haired, long-maned Aquaman plunging headlong into a churning blue abyss, his expression fierce and desperate as skeletal remains and debris swirl around him in the current. It's a bold, kinetic opening image for a series clearly intent on pushing the King of the Seven Seas into darker, more turbulent waters.
