This volume collects the first six issues of the 2007 Nova series, tying directly into Marvel's Annihilation: Conquest event. It follows Richard Rider, the last surviving Nova Centurion, as he returns to a Kree Empire devastated by the Phalanx and must rally what remains of galactic resistance. The story sets the stage for Nova's central role in the cosmic side of the Marvel Universe, written by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning with art by Sean Chen and Brian Denham.

Star-Lord helps the Spaceknights introduce a new security system into the Kree's defense network, but it turns out the Spaceknights were infected by the Phalanx and soon the Phalanx assimilate control over the entire Kree Empire. Elsewhere, Quasar receives a mysterious message to seek out someone to stop the Phalanx.
