“Inquiring Brain”

This January 1999 issue of DC's Animaniacs goes all-in on a superb tabloid-newspaper gag, with the cover — penciled by Walter Carzon and inked by Horacio Ottolini — presenting a mock "Weekly World Inquiring Brain" front page screaming "Brain Takes Over World!" A scowling, suit-clad Brain dominates the foreground while a panicked Yakko, Wakko, and Dot wig out in the upper corner, and a smaller inset teases Pinky in some kind of costume misadventure alongside the breathless promise of "Lose Pounds the Pinky Way." Fans of the animated series will get a genuine kick out of this affectionate send-up of supermarket tabloids, making Inquiring Brain a thoroughly fun entry in the run.
