Emily and the others reach Canalis, where they establish contact with a doctor and with the resistance, but are also attacked by warriors of the Elf King. Emily, Miskit, and Leon go to the Gadoba trees and receive a fruit that will heal Emily's mother -- hours before the trees are destroyed. Ordered by the Elf King to supercede Trellis, Luger attacks, but is battered by Trellis and Emily (using their Stones), and by Navin, using the house. Since Emily must remain in the new world, Navin and Mom (now revived) stay too.
