"Voice of the Jungle" by Kerry McRoberts depicts Martin Daly, an American soldier at Punay in the Philippines, who befriends locals and devises a clever scheme using Filipino guerrillas to trap Japanese forces by luring them with a false drum signal. The Fighting Yank story shows the character unearthing buried gold and taking to the air in a speedplane to intercept enemy forces, engaged in aerial combat with bombs and bullets.
