“Nightmare!”

Set in an eerie graveyard under a darkened sky, this 1984 issue places a fierce, claws-drawn Weapon X front and center, shielding a frightened blonde woman in glasses and a yellow skirt — snarling the defiant challenge, "Okay, sucker, the only way to get to the lady is through ME!" The atmosphere is tense and moody, with gnarled trees and tombstones framing the standoff beautifully in John Byrne's cover pencils and inks. With the full Alpha Flight roster teased in the corner box and a story titled "Nightmare!", this issue promises exactly the kind of charged, character-driven drama that made this series a highlight of Marvel's early '80s lineup.
