“The Vampire Strikes!”

In "The Vampire Strikes!", Bruce Henderson returns from a mysterious journey to the Moon—claiming he flew there in a crashed rocket ship in the jungles of Brazil on New Year's Eve, 1941. Though dismissed as a madman, his wild tale gains sudden credibility when a new telescope reveals the unmistakable, mile-long letters "U S A" etched across the lunar surface, exactly as he said they would be. Written by Mickey Spillane, this 1942 adventure blends sci-fi wonder with wartime-era imagination, all captured in a striking cover by the artist credited for the issue.
