“Welcome to the Asylum”

Jonah Hex trades the frontier for Gotham City in this 2013 New 52 entry, and the cover by Howard Porter captures the collision of eras perfectly — the scarred, duster-clad bounty hunter crouches atop a modern automobile, pistol raised, while a bespectacled man scrambles desperately below him, police cars closing in behind an asylum gate. The "Gotham Getaway!" tagline says it all: Hex is a long way from the Old West, and the city isn't making things easy. With Justin Gray, Jimmy Palmiotti, and Moritat steering the series, issue #22 promises the rough-edged, genre-bending storytelling that made this run such a distinctive corner of the New 52.
