DC's All-Star Western #115 from 1960 puts Johnny Thunder in a genuinely tense spot — seated outside a frontier building with a massive revolver thrust toward him from an unseen gunman's hand, the barrel looming so large it practically jumps off the cover. Gil Kane's pencils and Joe Giella's inks make superb use of that dramatic forced-perspective composition, pulling the reader right into the standoff. The featured story, "Guns of Destiny!", promises exactly the kind of high-stakes Western action that made this series a staple of DC's 1960 lineup.
