All-Star Squadron #38
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis October 1984 issue of All-Star Squadron leads with a cover by Rick Hoberg and Jerry Ordway that pulls no punches — a Black hero in chains is crucified against a burning backdrop while a hooded Klan figure sneers the ugly caption, "This is what happens when one of his kind talks back to a real American!" Surrounding the central horror are several Squadron members — including a masked blonde heroine, a caped blond hero, a red-helmeted figure, a red-masked woman, and a blue-skinned figure — their expressions reflecting shock and alarm at the scene unfolding before them. Roy Thomas, Rick Hoberg, and Bill Collins tackle racism head-on in "Detroit Is Dynamite!," and as a bonus, the issue includes a Golden Age gallery by artist Marshall Rogers.
