All Star Batman & Robin, the Boy Wonder #5

Jul 2007 · DC · 2.99 USD; 3.65 CAD
“Episode Five”

"Episode Five" delivers a chilling, character-driven chapter in Frank Miller’s All Star Batman & Robin, the Boy Wonder, with Jim Lee’s dynamic art and Scott Williams’ sharp inks bringing the grim intensity to life. As Wonder Woman joins Superman, Green Lantern, and Plastic Man in debating how to handle the increasingly violent new Bat-Man, tensions rise—especially when she reluctantly agrees to let him operate unchecked. Meanwhile, Batman’s brutal methods in Gotham and Dick’s unsettling discovery of old weapons in the Batcave deepen the mystery of Bruce’s descent, while Alfred’s memories of the Waynes hint at a past that may be shaping a very different future. The cover by Jim Lee and Scott Williams captures the dark, brooding mood perfectly.

Wonder Woman meets with Superman, Green Lantern, and Plastic Man to discuss what to do with this new Bat-Man who has now kidnapped a child. Though she wants to take him out, Wonder Woman agrees to leave Batman alone for now. Meanwhile Batman enjoys patrolling Gotham City, brutally stopping a rape, and tells the victim not to call the corrupt cops nor an ambulance. Back at Wayne Manor, Alfred recalls Bruce's childhood and the Waynes' deaths, wondering if his master has gone mad. Dick explores the Batcave, and finds a cache of old-style weapons, including a battle ax.
