Trivia · 8 facts

  • First Alien series ever published by Marvel Comics, released March 24, 2021 (cover-dated May 2021); Dark Horse had held the license for over 30 years prior.
  • Written by Phillip Kennedy Johnson with interior art by Salvador Larroca, colors by Guru-eFX, and lettering by Clayton Cowles; cover art on the standard edition by In-Hyuk Lee.
  • First appearance of Gabriel Cruz, a retiring Weyland-Yutani security chief and the series' original protagonist, whose estrangement from his son Danny forms the book's emotional spine.
  • First cameo appearance of the Alpha Alien, a new xenomorph variant introduced into franchise canon by this series.
  • The story is set in the year 2200 — 21 years after the events of Aliens and 78 years after the Nostromo — placing it firmly within the established film timeline without reusing movie characters.
  • Issue also introduces Epsilon Station (Weyland-Yutani's orbital research installation where Cruz worked) and depicts Danny Cruz and his girlfriend Iris as anti-corporate activists who inadvertently trigger a xenomorph outbreak.
  • A second printing was produced, with a 1:25 retailer-incentive variant cover by Patrick Gleason; the first print run carried incentive tiers as high as 1:500, with artists including Peach Momoko.
  • The series launched alongside Marvel's reprinting program of Dark Horse's classic Alien comics material, with an Aliens Omnibus Vol. 1 collecting earlier Dark Horse stories announced for April 2021.
