"Chapter 1" of Airboy Deluxe HC (2016) kicks off with a surreal creative clash: writer James Robinson and artist Greg Hinkle, summoned by Eric Stephenson to launch a new Airboy series, spiral into a haze of indulgence instead of plotting. When the title character himself materializes to confront their recklessness, the line between creator and creation blurs in a story that’s as much about the act of making comics as it is about the hero within them. The entire interior and cover are by Greg Hinkle, who handles pencils, inks, colors, and letters with a singular, immersive hand.
