Airboy #2

The cover of this Image Comics series says it all: Airboy himself — in his distinctive red jacket and flight gloves — sits slumped at a crowded bar, looking thoroughly overwhelmed while a wild, densely packed party rages around him. Greg Hinkle's line work is remarkable here, filling every inch with a raucous, wonderfully detailed crowd of revelers, punks, and partygoers that swallows the golden-age hero whole. James Robinson and Hinkle's 2015 series wears its self-aware, anything-goes energy right on its sleeve, and this second issue promises more of that delightfully chaotic collision between a WWII-era comics legend and the modern world.
