Count Sienna shows the Baron the famed annual seal run, lead by a great white seal. Sienna's stepbrother, in the Baron's opinion, seems to be a threat to the Count, and von Emmelman, required to return to Germany, gives one of two golden pendants to the Count as a seal of their friendship. When von Emmelman is killed, Count Sienna, through the gold pendant, senses the death of the Baron, and is promptly arrested for sympathizing with Germany, on the orders of now Colonel Pilastro. Years later, the Heap makes his way to Sicily in time to save the Count's life from Pilastro.
