“Airboy Meets the Mechanical Pirate”

In "Airboy Meets the Mechanical Pirate," Airboy races to South America to confront a mysterious threat, where the Heap and Dr. Drake have taken refuge, feeding off the land’s strange energies. Young Estella Lopez-O'Reilly, newly in charge of her family’s rancho, finds herself at odds with her cousin’s arrival—only to be saved when the Heap intervenes, turning the tide against the villains with a dramatic display of nature’s fury. Art by Frank Bolle and Leonard Starr brings the jungle menace to life, while Dan Barry’s cover captures the clash of man and machine in bold, dynamic lines.

Now in South America, the Heap and Dr. Drake come ashore and settle down as the creature takes in nourishment from the soil. Meanwhile, young Estella Lopez-O'Reilly assumes control of the rancho once owned by her late grandfather and father when her cousin arrives from Chicago to assume contyrol of the rancho. But the Heap appears on the scene and takes care of the villains, feeding some to man-eating plants.
