A band of armed apes blocks the entrance to the Forbidden Zone, their leader issuing a grim warning to the humans who approach on horseback — and a bold cover caption declares that someone "…is DEAD!" Jim Starlin and Klaus Janson bring real menace to the scene, cramming the cover with gorilla soldiers, rifles leveled, against a brooding crimson sky. Marvel's 1976 adaptation of the Planet of the Apes saga keeps the tension high with "The Secret," written by Doug Moench with interior art by George Tuska.
