"I'll Dream of You" follows a man and woman who meet in a café and fall in love, only to discover they are trapped in a dreamlike realm where they have been separated and aged over nearly a century, with the man imprisoned and the woman kept alive by a mysterious force, until he finally awakens to find her calling to him across time. A second story depicts a man named George who becomes obsessed with gambling at a roulette wheel, repeatedly betting on number 27 and experiencing alternating wins and losses, eventually winning a fortune but losing his sense of time and reality in the process, only to discover his luck has fundamentally changed.
In "Final Accounting!", uranium prospector Fred Greene stumbles upon a crashed UFO in the hills, only to uncover a sinister alien conspiracy. The malevolent beings from the planet Xereses, led by their chilling commander Toabor, have set their sights on eradicating all life on Earth with their advanced weapons—soon. When Fred threatens to expose them, Toabor disables him with a hypnotic ray, erasing his memory of the coming catastrophe.
George Harris turns 27 on what seems like his luckiest day—good job, wonderful fiancée, secure future—until the number 27 begins appearing everywhere, heralding disaster after disaster. As his job, romance, and savings crumble under an avalanche of "coincidences," George becomes convinced he's locked in a battle with fate itself, and makes a desperate gamble to seize control of his cursed number before it claims his life.
Professor Bailey receives an extraordinary visitor from the year 3468—a time traveler who demonstrates impossible scientific feats and promises to return. When Bailey invites skeptical colleagues, including the dismissive Professor Parkis, to witness the visitor's miraculous demonstrations, he discovers that only he can perceive what the visitor and his wonders actually are. As the truth unfolds in Professor Bailey's study, the implications of this strange contact leave him desperate to explain the inexplicable.
