Adventures in the Rifle Brigade #[nn]

A ragtag squad of misfit soldiers — pistols raised, grenades in hand, bagpipes somehow in the mix — crowd the cover of this Vertigo collection, all gruff confidence and barely contained chaos against a backdrop of fire and crumbling stonework. Garth Ennis and Carlos Ezquerra bring their signature blend of irreverent wartime storytelling to "Once More Unto the Breach," and Brian Bolland's cover art captures the Rifle Brigade's gloriously battered ensemble with tremendous character and wit. If you've got a taste for action-comedy set against the absurdities of war, this 2005 Vertigo collection looks like a very good time.
