In "Doomsday for the Fifth Dimension!" from Action Comics Annual #6 (1994), an adult Superman crash-lands in the fifth dimension, where he's twisted into a being known as Doomsday. When Mr. Mxyzptlk attempts to stop the resulting chaos, he pays the ultimate price—his life.
