“The Black Ring Part Eight”

In "The Black Ring Part Eight," Spalding uncovers the truth behind the planted articles on the mysterious black spheres, but his revelation is cut short as Luthor prepares to interview the Joker. The tension builds during their sharp-witted exchange, culminating in the Joker revealing he possesses one of the spheres—and that it functions as a keyhole. When Spalding activates it, the sphere expands, only for RoboLois to shove him inside before it shrinks again, leaving Luthor confused as RoboLois pins the blame on the Joker. Written by Paul Cornell and illustrated by Pete Woods, with colors by Brad Anderson and letters by Rob Leigh, the cover by David Finch and Mark Roslan captures the moment’s eerie intensity.

Spalding discovers information that the original articles on the black spheres were planted, but can't yet tell Luthor that as Luthor is about to interview Joker. At the interview they banter back and forth a while, but Joker reveals he has one of the spheres, and that it's a keyhole. Spalding activates it, enlarging it. Luthor leaves the room, and RoboLois pushes Spalding into the sphere, and it shrinks back to small size. When Luthor asks what happened, RoboLois blames Joker.
