Action Comics #664

Phase Five of the "Time and Time Again" crossover arrives in April 1991 with one of the most arresting covers of the run — Kerry Gammill and Dennis Janke drop Superman squarely inside the snapping jaws of a massive dinosaur, the Man of Steel bracing his arms and legs against rows of enormous teeth in a prehistoric landscape of volcanoes and primordial jungle. A smaller inset panel in the upper left shows Superman armed with what appears to be a rifle, hinting at the strange predicaments time-travel tends to create. Roger Stern and Bob McLeod carry the story duties inside, and with a setup this vivid, "Many Long Years Ago…" promises exactly the kind of era-hopping adventure that title delivers.
